The new Pho 78 actually did surprise me, but mainly because the menu was very limited. No banh mi, a handful of bun options, only two seafood choices, no vegetarian entrees. The food was good though, possibly better than their other two sites, and the space was nicely renovated and clean.

re: Semprini
pho 78 in plantation/sunrise DOES have banh ami. it even has a great one with a fried egg!
i liked saigon cuisine but i think the pho at saigon city is even better. the broth just can't be beat. and there is almost TOO much meat. almost.

I thought I'd revive this old thread because I noticed that Pho78 has opened another outpost, this time in Davie. This one is located next door to my favorite grocery store, Foodtown (which has a great selection of Asian food, plus Latin, Indian, and Caribbean sections, and lots of interesting produce.)
I haven't eaten at this pho shop yet, but will probably try it this weekend. Not expecting much, but maybe they'll surprise me...
Address is roughly 6461 Sterling Road, on the north side.

I've been there twice since they opened, I think it's better than the branch in Pembroke Pines, but not nearly as good as some of the other pho places in Tamarac and Margate. The prices are a bit higher at Pho78 also...

re: Jenaclaree
My favorite is Phuong Nam (just west of Rock Island on Commercial.) I've been to dozens of Vietnamese places in Florida and elsewhere in the world, but their pho do bien chua cay is impossible to beat in Broward. I just wish they had bun chao tom...
I agree with johnmlinn, our local Pho Hoa is pretty darn good...

re: Semprini
I was a bit disappointed with Pho 78. The pho was OK but the rest of the food was not good at all. It is so hard to find good Vietnamese food in South Florida. Their banh mi was a hybrid using American mayonnaise instead of the homemade stuff.

re: oncidium
If you're looking for good Pho in this area, I recommend (in order) Saigon Cuisine, Saigon City, and Pho Binh. All are on State Road 7 in Margate and Lauderdale Lakes. I haven't tried Phuong Nam yet but maybe this weekend.

re: Jenaclaree
Haven't been to all Vietnamese restaurants in sofla, but I have to agree Saigon Cuisine is really good. The service was excellent too. I a can't remember the last time I was treated so well. I went on a Tuesday night (my birthday) and had the owners cooking/serving for me. I just wish I could grow the mint, cilantro, and basil they brought out for me. So huge, so beautiful...
