Detroit Metro - SATURDAY Brunch recommendation needed

  • 6
  • Share

Hi Hounds!

I'm looking for a "fun" brunch on a Saturday - preferably one that has cocktail specials. Royal Oak, Ferndale or downtown would be my first choices, but if there is another spot that is worth checking out, I'm flexible.

I have been to restaurants for Sunday brunch (most notably, La Dolce Vita), but I can't seem to find out online if they have the same setup for Saturdays.

Outside seating is a major plus...

Thanks for your help!

  1. Are you looking for a brunch buffet or a brunch style menu?

More of a brunch style menu - I'm not a huge fan of buffets (I think the quality of the food suffers). There will be 2 "foodies" and 1 "normal person" at the brunch so quality of food is important.

      Thanks!

    2. Dino's Lounge in Ferndale does a weekend brunch both days with bottomless mimosas and bloody marys. I've never been for breakfast but have always been satisfied with their dinners. Also they have outside seating in front and in back.

Also, The Whitney does a brunch that might be in their garden area, but I don't know if its on Saturdays or just Sundays.

      1. Cafe Muse, in Royal Oak has a wonderful menu for brunch items. I think they just recently got a liquor license, too.

I second the recommendation for Cafe Muse. They have outdoor seating too. There's also Frittata in Clawson, which seems to be very well-liked on these boards. Frittata and Cafe Muse opened around the same time a couple years ago with, I think, similar ambitions. I've eaten at both several times and, in my opinion, Frittata has stayed the same or maybe even gotten slightly worse over time while Cafe Muse has gotten better in just about every area. Don't get me wrong -- I'm definitely glad to have Frittata in the area. Incidentally, Cafe Muse is starting dinner service. Tonight might actually be the first night.

        2. Berkley Bistro/Breakfast cafe has outdoor seating. I'm pretty sure they have beer/wine but not sure about liquor.

Sweet Lorraine's has an attractive menu and liquor, but no outside seating.
