Chowish suggestions near Omni Hotel, in Ft. Worth, TX
Attending a biz meeting at the Omni in a few weeks. Please give me some Chowish ideas of where to eat....
Where can we take some clients for some really special meals within walking distance or a short cab of the hotel?
Where should we try to eat on our own? Are there any good bars or pubs?
We like Tex Mex, and local specialties. Personally I'm a vegetarian, so veg-friendly is very important, especially in Beef and BBQ type areas.
I would suggest Ellerbe's Fine Food - but would call ahead to request a veg option.
Though I haven't eaten at Tillman's, it continually receives praise and I see that they have something named "VEGETABLE COLLAGE" on their menu. http://www.tillmansroadhouse.com/eats_fw_dinner.html
As foiegras stated, Magnolia has become a hot-bed of some new and trendy, some old and comfortable restaurants. Hopefully, this link may be of some help. http://eatthisfortworth.com/index.php...
I've been to Tillman's & liked it a lot ... that's a good option. Lili's Bistro on Magnolia is pretty good. They have plenty of vegetarian options on the menu (it's online).
I've never been to Reata ... I've had a report from a fellow foodie that the chili is good, but not much else.
It's so hot this time of year that you're not going to want to walk far at all. Better to take a short cab ride to the best food available.
There's also PF Chang's downtown ... I hesitate to mention a chain, but it is downtown & the food isn't bad ...
I'm still looking for some good places to go! The hotel is apparently new, and the address is 1300 Houston St. in Ft. Worth. I'm not at all familiar with the area, I'm not sure if it is a city area or a suburban area~ No one tells you that info when you are attending a conference!
Its getting to be crunch time..and I need 3-4 good resto's to take clients for meals.
Do you have an address? I'm thinking perhaps the Omni bought a hotel and changed its name?
In my mind, the best food in town is not downtown ... but FW is fairly compact. I've heard good things about Vidalia downtown (in the Worthington I believe), but haven't been yet.
The closest thing to 'restaurant row' is Magnolia Ave., which is maybe 3 miles from downtown. The vegan Spiral Diner (it may have a new name now?) is there. When you say vegetarian, I take it you don't mean pescetarian? That would give us a few more options ...
Lanny's may be a possibility for you ... if I were you I'd call ahead & ask restaurants about vegetarian options if their menus aren't online.
Drew's Place (soul food) serves an old-fashioned vegetable plate. I believe they close at 7 ...
Cafe Modern has vegetarian options ... they're open at lunch & I believe Friday nights now (serving the lunch menu).
