Sunday evening in DC

Hello --

I'm looking for suggestions of a restaurant with notable if not terribly pricey dining ($10 apps/$15-$25 entrees) for a late June Sunday evening dinner in DC. Staying at the Crowne Plaza (14th & K), and certainly Metro, cab, and walking friendly, so geography is not a huge issue, but I would prefer to not travel extensively.

My dining companion is a foodie, but is also very happy to eat casually. I prefer places without coat checks, so to speak... less fancy. The only food restriction is that I do not eat mammals, but as long as there a few other options on a menu, that's fine by me.

Also, another companion would like to join us either at the selected location or somewhere else nearby for dessert and a drink after our meal... any suggestions for that would also be welcome.

I realize this is a bit open-ended, but for some reason I get jumpy thinking that Sundays have early closures if not closed altogether. I have also struck out a couple times selecting restaurants with this dining companion in the past six months, so I'd like to turn it around with a great meal for both of us.

Thanks!

  1. 14th and K? I would walk across the street (literally) to DC Coast.

DC Coast or Brasserie Beck would be good (they both have good seafood options on the menu that are not mammals :) ). You can grab a drink before or after at Lima.

Siroc is also nice. I would also recommend Darlington House, Tabard Inn, Hank's Oyster Bar, or Firefly. All should have good, affordable prices and are near Dupont Circle, which has lots of options for drinks after your meal.

      2. SIroc would be my choice for a non-mammalian. Pertaining to diet, that is. I realize that you are probably a mammal.
