quick question about Overwood, Old Town Alexandria

Hoping I might get some quick advice from you all. I just made reservations at Overwood for a group of six for this Thursday. Some family is coming into town and we're meeting up with some other family, and:

it seemed like Old Town would be a convenient location for all of us, the price is about what I was looking for, the menu has a good variety and looks like something for everyone in our group, they take reservations for larger parties, and it's recommended on here pretty often. I've never been (and don't really know Old Town that well, but always happy to have an excuse to go).

My concern is noise -- this is a group hoping to catch up with each other and some members (including me) can get pretty out-of-sorts in loud restaurants. My impression from here and yelp is that it is a loud place, but that there are some quieter tables (which I mentioned we'd prefer in the reservation). Would you suggest I rethink going there for this (or any other) reason?

I'll let you know how it goes, if we do keep the reservation.

In an earlier incarnation of the place, we used to have office parties there quite a lot. It wasn't any noisier than any other place. I have been there a few times as Overwood and have liked the food.

If you're in the front of the restaurant, nearer the bar, yes it's loud. A lot of tile, a lot of brick for sound to bounce off. In the rear and to the sides is much lower volume.

And on weekdays it is much less crowded, so not as noisy, by the bar gets a little noisy because of people there for happy hour, but the side room and back room are not very noisy at all.

I think it is pretty good for a group as they have a lot of good safe options, but they are prepared well. I think they do thinks in a simple, but good way. I have gone with some girlfriends to catch up for happy hour a few times and found it a nice place.

Thanks chew, weezy, and kt, I really appreciate your responses. I haven't gotten confirmations from all of our group yet, so we still may not end up keeping the reservation -- but I feel more confident about suggesting it after hearing from you all.
