I was wondering what your thoughts on The Stinking Rose are. I LOVE garlic and have been to the Gilroy Garlic Festival.
Anyone.....................
Also, thinking about taking my 16 year old daughter to Chi to hopefully see her crush, Justin. Is the food any good AT ALL? I've heard mixed reviews.

Hi... Unfortunately, I've heard nothing but uniformly bad reviews of the Stinking Rose, which has kept me away from there for years. Supposedly even a 40 clove garlic chicken has little to recommend it. And I've heard the environment described as a brothel run to seed... There are so many ethnic and mainstream restaurants that do wonderful things with garlic, justifying the extra effort in seeking out favorite versions one dish at a time. Gorikee in Woodland Hills has garlic in most of its menu items. Koreatown is another place to consider. If you do go to the Stinking Rose, I would appreciate your report to see whether your experience conforms with the consensus...

as for Chi I've eaten there three times and drinken there numerous others. It has a unique decore worth checking out. In my three meals there the menu has changed each time. perhaps they are tying to find their niche. The good news is that my last meal there was the best. the portions are small so you have to try a little of everything, the lamb was tasty. As for Mr. Timberlake, he is a part owner only in name. He will only pop in once every month or two for some nighttime activities. I wonder if hes ever tried the food?

The stinking rose is as bad as you've heard.. I went there once with my wife, before she was my wife, and I should be very happy that I didn't pick that location for a date with any romantic significance.

I've never had garlic so tasteless.. and the decor, I'm not usually one to notice such things.. but this looked like what might happen if you saw the inside of the tavern from the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland.

Well thank you for the Stinking Rose reviews. Happy to say that we WON'T be dining there. EVER. Sounds horrible.
Regarding Chi...eh...maybe she can live without Justin.
I love this board. Thank you!
