Weekend in Camden, Maine

Thanks to all of you, I did my research for my trip with my wife to Camden this weekend. We will be there for three nights, and have reservations at Natalie's, Francine Bistro and Primo. Anyone want to talk me out of any of those. Should I substitute In Good Company for one of them. Thanks.

We had a great weekend in Camden, even though rained the whole time. We ended up eating at Natalie’s and Francine Bistro in Camden and Lily Bistro in Rockland. Would highly recommend all three. There were dishes at all three that were superb. The red beet ravioli at Natalie’s, the steak frites at Francine and the lamb at Lily come to mind. We wanted to try In Good Company as well, but they were closed for the weekend for repairs.

Thanks for the update. Sounds like you ultimately substituted Lily for Primo? Too bad about the weather...bad luck I guess...the weather here this spring/summer has been the best I've seen in a long time. You must've picked that one weekend with rain!

I'm late to this, having just decided to re-visit Rockland next month. To my mind Owlman lucked out, substituting Lily for Primo. At least in 2008, my wife and I found Primo pretentious and pricey and with a level of service that was dismal. But Natalie's was superb, as was Prism Glass Gallery Cafe, between Rockland and Camden village. I think this time we'll add Lily's or Francine, and give Primo the elbow.

I suggest you take a ride to Morse's Restaurant and Euro Deli in North Waldoboro. A lovely ride. Delicious German food, and pastries, meats, smoked fish, cheeses, their own pickles and sauerkraut, of course, preserves, candies, and so much more, that you will find it difficult to leave. Completely unpretentious. Perfect. And all very reasonable. The restaurant is closed on Wednesdays. Ate there again today, and it was like receiving a great gift. (Note: alcohol is not served here. I often wonder how many rave reviews issue from the 'vino', rather than the quality of the food and the true ambience of a place. This is not a concern at Morse's).

As for Primo - I think you do not know the story behind the food served there -- the site-grown vegetables and herbs, the hand-made sausages, etc., etc. It's worth a read even if you find that the clientele is too-too for your comfort level.

PS Surprised that Prism works for you given your objections.
