Dutchess County Farmers' Markets

Solstice444 Jun 3, 2010 09:01 AM

There are plenty of threads about farmers' markets in Westchester, but does anyone have any feedback on ones in Dutchess? Now that the season is starting up, I'd really like to go to some this year. Despite living up here for 2.5 years, I haven't gone to any, and so if anyone has suggestions about which are best, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

    1) rhinebeck (SUN)
    2) kingston (SAT)
    (big gap)
cold spring (SAT) / vassar (THU) / millbrook (SAT)
don't like pleasant valley's, the POK one in the little italy area is small as well.

Rhinebeck is amazing. I don't think cold spring is so much worse though.

To fill the gap. There is a good market in Woodstock on Wed afternoons. It's not Dutchess County but worth the drive for a midweek fill.

there's a very small farmers' market in fishkill on thursdays from (i believe) 11-3. it's in the tanjore/toro parking lot across from golden buddha thai. i like the one in poughkeepsie on fridays. it's on main street about a block down from the artist's palate.

Thanks everyone. When I have the time (I work some weekends) I will go up to Rhinebeck. I'll have to try Vassar/Fishkill/POU in the meantime when I have a chance.

I'm new to the Dutchess area and wanted to find out where the farmer's markets were. This site listed them all and was a great resource http://www.dutchesscommunity.com/Outd....

i haven't looked at this in a while, and don't know if it's been updated (and you need flash installed latest version), but this is from the poughkeepsie journal a while ago:

millerton opens this weekend, pok @walkway opens this friday...

There is one in Clermont on Saturdays now, it's technically Columbia County but it is right over the border of Dutchess not far from Red Hook right on Rte 9 - also a couple of good farm stands along the way.
Kiscieke Farm in Rhinebeck and Migliorelli's stands are great too. Hyde Park has a farmers mkt too - but I've never been to it.
