Manhattan with kids- 3 and 7
OK, we're heading to the Big Apple from little ol' Durham, NC for 3 days in the end of June. Any great recs for family friendly places- we have a wild 3 year old and a well behaved 7 year old! We'll be on the UWS and Midtown mostly, but would like to eat with real NYers. Thanks for the help!

Dean's Pizza on the UWS. All the kids are wild there, so you'll have nothing to worry about. Avoid Shake Shack UWS unless you don't mind waiting. Rigoletto Pizza on 69th and Columbus is one of the best slices on the UWS and it's next to Magnolia Bakery, for a nice one-two kid punch.

I've never waited more than 15 minutes at Shake Shack UWS. Go 1) shortly after it opens 2) after lunch but before dinner (3 p.m. - 5 p.m. ish) on a weekday and wait won't be bad. Sometimes I don't wait at all. I think it's a perfect option for kids, especially before/after American Museum of Natural History!
Also some other kid-friendly dessert options: Levain Bakery's chocolate-chip walnut cookie (it's huge, have them share one,) gelato from Grom, Rita's water ice, Magnolia's banana pudding, Jacques Torres' chocolates and cookies.

take the subway to chinatown in manhattan its easy, and go eat at Great NY Noodletown. The kids can eat fried rice, whatever you think is appropriate and will get a blast as will you out of the hong kong (couldnt be more english friendly) atmosphere. you should get a ton of roast duck
