Going to Porto Bello tonight w my gal pals. We got some good coupons from the new Groupon gig in town called Eversave. For $20 purchase you get $45 of chow. Have never been there. Hope it's good. Anyone have any menu suggestions. I'm oggling the Portugese stew.

Haven't been there in a while- but always enjoyed it there. The pace is leisurely, so going on a weeknight is a great idea. I love their seafood. LAst time I was there, I got a thier version of seafood fra diavlo- so good!

Please report back. I drive by it all the time. You steered me in the right direction with Zaleks! Thanks in advance

It's been way too long since I've been there... 2005 judging by my review at http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/152543 (hmm, right around the time my kids got too old for me to linger in retsaurants for hours, which you need to plan for here.) But just reading it makes me crave that shrimp all over again.

I drive by there all the time and the place always looks empty to me - I have not been there in YEARS but do remember horrible, slow service.

Same as above - after giving them two chances several years ago and suffering through incredibly bad , slow service (the slowest service I have ever encountered anywhere), I will never go back

I have been a few times- and have had slow service, but not bad service. We always go during the week, which may make a difference. I would not want to be there if it was really crowded, but a leisurely dinner during the week works well for us.

Report. It was okay...not great ...okay. Service was pleasant but very slow. I think it took 30 minutes just to get the ap salad. We were there 6:30 til 8:45 and there was only 1 other party in the room. The bread was a scali type. Warm ,w a spongy crumb and chewey crust. Didn' like it. Served w a very thin vinagrette w lots of crushed red pepper. 2 of us got the seafood stew and the other the frutti d' mari. The stew had nice fresh seafood but the broth was kind of bland. Calamari overcooked. Served w rice. I was very hungry and ate the whole thing. My pal seemed to enjoy her pasta dish but I noticed she took a lot of it home. No coffee or dessert. We had a groupon so our bill balance was only $30 for 3 of us. I wouldn't want to pay full price. Won't be rushing back.

I went there last night with my husband and in-laws. Everyone loved it. We started with the eggplant rollatini and it was so good I could have eaten it all myself! I had seafood canneloni which was delicious, my husband got a surf and turf special and we couldn't get over the size of the steak, it was huge. I don't remember specifically what the others had, but my father in law cleaned his plate, which he doesn't normally do.

I didn't think the service was slow. We were a party of 4 and arrived around 7 and left at 8:30. Maybe the slow service is just on weekends? I will definately go back.
