Coral Gables Restaurant Week
So, Coral Gables Restaurant Week is coming up , and I'm looking to do some dining. The Gables isn't an area I frequent often, and other than the chains, the only place I've actually been to that's participating is Ortanique. This seems like a good opportunity to possibly remedy that.
So CHers, any thoughts or recs?

Of the places listed as participating, Angelique, Bugatti, Graziano's, La Cofradia, Le Provencal, Ortanique, Por Fin, Spris and Talavera are all worth visiting. Morton's is also solid. I've always been curious about La Dorada but have never been. JohnMartin's is OK but I'm not sure the menu is any great savings. Tarpon Bend is reliably decent if unexceptional.
Por Fin, incidentally, always has a good 2-course lunch deal going on with several options for both starter and entree for about $20. Talavera also has lots of $12 lunch options so I'm not sure this menu is any great deal for lunch there either.

Interesting! I guess in CG a week = 2?
I too have never been to Dorada and have always been curious about the place. I just perused their menu to find something else very curious! A Sirloin Strip Steak (Prime Choice)? Is it Prime, or is it Choice? Is it a Sirloin, or is it a Strip? Bazaar...their lunch menu is extensive and at 19.50 looks like a nice deal albeit kind of a splurge during lunchtime. Their 45 dinner menu just seems way out of whack! Why pay more than double the $ and get way less than half the choices? In fact, I think they only give you two entree choices at night! If anyone ought to want to build a new customer base it should be this mysterious Spanish seafood place. Why not pull out all the stops at night to?
Thanks for the heads up Talos, I'm going to try to make it out for a nice lunch or two. What happened to the Miami Spice nice price of 35 bux by night? 45 seems like a stretch especially if those other restaurants are getting that kind of doe for dinner!

La Dorada mysterious, I think not. You should go in and give them a try. This Spanish restaurant has some of the freshest seafood we have found. Everything is made to order and delicious. We travel down from North Dade quite often to enjoy their shellfish and salads.

re: netmover
"Coral Gables Restaurant Week" sounded better than "Coral Gables Restaurant Fortnight".
Because the format is not as rigid as Miami Spice, the "value" you get can be unpredictable, sometimes nonexistent. Plus there are some places that regularly offer good deals (lunch in particular), like Por Fin where they always have a 2-course $20 lunch menu with several options.
I've always been curious about Dorada as well but as it's reputed to be a fish place, I wouldn't get the steak - prime, choice, or just a "prime choice."

re: netmover
The interesting thing for me about Ortanique is, I saw their prices with menus posted well before Coral Gables restaurant week. Seems like something they were doing before and just decided to throw their name in the restaurant week hat. Nothing wrong with it, just made me laugh to know it was something that was already going on.
Hope you find something that suits your tastes. I wanted to go to Bugatti, but the "legendary" lasagna isn't included. Maybe when my office moves to the Gables next month I'll finally give the lasagna a shot.
