I grew up eating country fried steak in Texas...which is part of the "country fried " belt of which Minnesota is not a part.

The only place I've had it here (and I know it exists elsewhere, like, Chili's) is at The Red Stag where it is served with a leek gravy and is actually quite good. The only problem I've encountered is that since it is a regional dish uncommon to these parts, it is not understood that country fried steak has to be served fast and hot, otherwise it is not good.

You can get a country fried steak at the Machine Shed in Lake Elmo on Radio Drive just north of I-94.
