I'm Stuck - Dinner for 8 Girls
Every month we have a girl's dinner normally at a restaurant suggested by me.
Recent dinners have been at Globefish, Charcut, Vin Room and Alloy.
Someplace central is preferred.
I am asking for suggestions because I am drawing a blank. Something casual and fun that i have chance of getting a reservation for 8 on 48 hours notice.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I have noticed that The Muse in Kensington does not get a ton of love on the chow boards, but I for one LOVE the food and atmosphere and have never had a bad experience there.. The resto is split between 3 or 4 dining areas all on different floors. On the 2nd level next to the open kitchen is a larger table designed for bigger groups (could probably hold 8-12) that I think would be ideal for what your looking for. Try the escargots, best I have had in the city and the Yukon potato lobster lasagna is as close to a perfect dish as I have ever experienced... Just fantastic!

Pretty cool place.
Divino's is terrific but you may not be able to get a reservation. Also, its a bit noisy.

Another vote for Brava Bistro.
A group of us 6 ladies went a couple of years go - dinner and a movie (first Sex & the City movie). It was fabulous and the service was memorably great. We are going again in a couple of weeks - dinner & a movie again (this time Sex & the City 2!!). Glad to see by the previous posts that it's still great.

For a girls dinner... my wife often goes with her girlfriends to Escoba or Divino. Both central, good food and wine lists, easier to get a bigger group at Escoba, but possible at both I'd say.

There is a restaurant above Puchinellas restaurant in Kensington . It's in all red colours and has terrific booth seating. You might notice the reds don't work that well together. Really tough colour to pull off with multilple of it. I've been there twice and love the simply italian fare. It's like eating at Nona's table. Last weekend I was there and sure enough, an entire Italian family complete with grandma came into dine. The booths seat up to 8. The food is served italian style. Order rack of lamb and you get an entire rack in the middle of the table to share. Thats the focus of the place, sharing plates or small platters of really good italian. The desserts are horrible. They haven't gotten desserts right yet.

You could try Spiros on 17th. They have roast suckling pig every Wed night as their special and lamb on a spit on Tues evenings. I tried the suckling pig and it was delicious. The $25 entree included a greek salad to start and veggies and potatoes with the main. The greek salad was one of the better ones that I've had in Calgary. And I loved the crispy skin of the suckling pig. They serve other items on the menu too such as pizza. For dessert, try their cheesecake. It is to-die-for!

Recently I hosted a ladies' dinner at Laurier Lounge for 5ppl on recommendations from this board - was great! The ladies loved it! The drinks were fun and the tapas plates/poutine/fondue were great to share.
Also a few other suggestions: Una Pizza or Divino?

I went to Brava Bistro with a group of 8 a couple of months ago and had a great time. Service was on point. Food and drinks great. Atmosphere cool. Would go again with a group that size in a heartbeat.
