I'm thinking of having a small birthday dinner at Boka next week-- maybe 6 people at the most. Thoughts on if this is a good idea? Thanks in advance!

  1. Boka is our favorite restaurant. The atmosphere is very cosy and au currant. Service is very professional and very helpfull. Chef Tentori is imaginative and his creations are very flavorfull. You will not be disapointed and your birthday dinner will be a happy celebration.

    1. I second the thumbs-up. We absolutely love Boka. The chef's creations are indeed thoughtful and creative, and make wonderful use of seasonal and local ingredients. Service is very good - unobtrusive but happy to talk in as much or little detail about the dishes as you'd like.

On the drinks front, I believe they have a nice seasonal cocktail menu. The wine list is not gigantic but very well thought-out and contains some true gems that don't make the standard restaurant lists (such, as, e.g., some of the Brander wines that I love).

It is not an inexpensive meal but, to my mind, a great value - a top-class meal for the money, and wonderful wines that are well-priced. Enjoy.

They also allow BYOB but I don't know the exact policy (I have taken wine there before) so call first. It is a very solid choice.

If you bring your own, it would be well worth it to find out what the corkage fee is in advance.

One should always, always call in advance and get the name of the person you spoke with when wanting to BYOB.

I third or fourth or whatever the suggestion! Love Boka. Great food. I have only been once, but the service was great, totally my style of service. Really friendly and professional, but not stuffy. And they have an amazing new drinks director who does some crazy good cocktails.
