  1. Landmark? New building, or a reincarnation? That drive-in sorta place, used to be Ralphies on the rail trail?

    1. did you survive?

on our list for this coming weekend, if it's still good.

Yes, it's good. I had the ribs, wife had the quarter chicken. Each of us gave our entrees an "8" out of ten (but there have been maybe 2 or 3 tens, EVER). Sides (fries, cornbreak, corn, mac & cheese) were decent, but not worth going out of your way for. Prices were very reasonable ($10.99 for half a rack, maybe on the small side, plus the two sides), and there was only one empty table inside when we left at 12:15PM today.

Friends went during the week, enjoyed the burgers and pulled pork sandwiches.

Looked like a new building to us.

      2. Went and was not impressed. Brisket is on the menu yet the chef/owner doesn't know how to cut it-he shreds it, like pulled pork...ugh tougher than leather...Brisket is to be sliced against the grain like corned beef...
Sides all pre-packed tubs of supermarket quality.
I asked what was homemade -"baked beans"-so I tried 'em...They were canned with added sugar...oldest and vilest trick in the book.
Owner/cook seems to have no experience cooking Q prior to this...
I can hear the grim reaper approaching....

I was there a week ago to share a large bbq sampler with a friend. The brisket was sliced exactly as it should be (against the grain like c.b.) and was quite moist & tender. The bbq chicken actually had a smoky flavor to the meat, not just roast or grilled chicken slathered with sauce.

Good to know, RB, you have yet to steer me in the wrong direction! ;) Thanks! How 'bout the sides?

On the way home tonight (and it's literally a stone's throw from my home, if you have a good arm), I ordered a small bbq sampler, which came with 2 sides. My choices were fire roasted corn, which appeared to be about 1/3 of a fresh ear, and was tasty and perfectly cooked on the grill (not boiled to death first); and mac&cheese, which was acceptible but nothing special. The small sampler can easily feed 2 people with normal appetites. I'm ashamed to admit I didn't share it tonight.

On previous visits I had the onion rings, which were absolutely great, IMHO. (In a previous incarnation, a long, long time ago, this used to be Balough's, very popular with the Q college students and a source of fantastic onion rings.)

On that first visit we ran into an old friend of my friend whom we hadn't seen in years. He & his wife raved about the baked beans, but I haven't tried them yet.

Note: They're closed Mondays, and close early (8PM) Tues-Thurs & Sun.

HA HA HA, that's cool re not sharing--it's certainly easy to do when the food is good. Glad to see your input on this one!
