Django - Des Moines

fromtheD May 30, 2010 07:19 PM

In Des Moines for a wedding this weekend, we had one night for a nice dinner. After lots of research on this board, we chose Django. Thank you to all the DM CHers who recommended it. It was one of the best meals we have had this year. The food was excellent (started with the small shellfish plate, I had the duck breast and DH had the steak frites with the hanger steak and the duck fat fries, split cheese plate for dessert), service was helpful and friendly and not at all intrusive. And the price point was great. A meal of this quality in Minneapolis would have been significantly more expensive. We loved the use of local ingrediants, the room was lively without being loud, and we are still talking about how good the food was.

That's good to hear. All of my food has always been good, but I mostly visit during lunch or happy hour. I took some people there for dinner and a couple of them didn't like their meal: crepes and steak/frites. Regardless, I'll still go back. Too many good dishes to pass up.

Not only is the food good in the true French Bistro but there's no corkage fee ever. You can take that nice aged Bordeaux or Burgundy and have it with a great French meal. I highly recommend the Cassoulet.
