Best Italian For a Group/Birthday?

daveforce4 May 30, 2010 08:29 AM

Hi everyone:

First post on the boards here....

My father's 70th birthday is coming up in July and I'm trying to find a great Italian place to take him, the fam and friends. The group will prob. be about 15-20 people total and I'd ideally like to find a private room to accommodate. While Manhattan is preferred, I'd be willing to take the crew to the Bronx.

Any suggestions?

It would help to know what your price range is. Some places that come to mind are Crispo, Convivio and SD26.

Really depends on your budget. If the sky's the limit...Del Posto.

Aroma is wonderful and has private room space - I think it can be quite large or divided by a curtain. Call and check with them. They have a somewhat intense staircase down to the room though - so guests should be sure-footed.
I'd second Crispo as an option for a large party as well, though it can be loud.

I highly recommend Maialino. They have a private room though you'd have to check as to exactly how many it can hold.

If money isn't a factor, they can turn the back of the dining room in Marea into a private room.

I second Del Posto if you can drop the bucks. Less of a financial hit: Maialino or Locanda Verde, both have private rooms.
