Galvez

The space is lovely, the view terrific, the food 5 out of 10.

Unfortuanately, the menu reads better than it tastes. Three of us ordered 4 apps and 3 entrees (2 were the same since the snapper sounded great...both left at least 1/2). The other entree was the meat paella...not made to order but appearing to have been scooped out of a larger pan then fluffed into a smaller one.

Patatas bravas were fairly large, soft cubes covered in a bland tomato sauce. Leftover then reheated poorly would be my guess.

I planned to review all our choices but there's really no point. There wasn't an item I'd order again.

Oh well, at least we had a restaurant.com coupon.

  1. Our experience was also unremarkable: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/608316. Bummer to hear they haven't gotten any better.

On the restaurant.com coupons - have you had any trouble with them? I've now had three restaurants that refused to honor them, including Green Goddess. They claim strained or deceptive dealings with restaurant.com.

    1. re: kibbles

We've not had a problem with rest.com coups at Coquette, Lola or Galvez. Liuzza BTT refused to take it a few months ago stating they were suing rest.com. I called r.com and they gave me a credit. Probably best to call ahead to make sure the rest. accepts them.

Mr. know it all "food critic" lives in his own out of touch world, full of contradictions and misinformation.

    2. just flipping thru the latest City Business and found Fitzmorris' review: 4 stars.

on its emptiness: "It's not that the cooking at Galvez lacks anything, but the locals and visitors are reluctant to try an ethnic cuisine to which they are not accustomed."

...uh, yeah, Tom. Sure. Can't think of *any* other tapas joints that are doing well in town... Is this guy for real?

      1. We went shortly after opening and then again 2 mos. ago. Consistently underwhelming across the board. Not 'bad', but sorely lacking.
