I would suggest Lumiere in W. Newton. Really lovely modern French....you should stay within your budget if you aren't ordering alot of liquor/wine.

Kouzina in Waban is very good- should be able to get within the $100 per couple so long as you don't drink too much alcohol.

How about 51 Lincoln, in Newton Highlands?

Tempo Bistro on Moody St. in Waltham could fit the bill depending on what you order to drink.

I wouldn't call Tempo creative. Check the menus on line of Lumiere, Ariadne, and Il Capriccio (the first two in Newton, the last one is Waltham). With restraint on the liquor you should be able to come in around a $100.00 a couple. If Belmont isn't too far, try Il Casale or come into Brookline and try Orinoco or La Morra. You can check them all out on line.

Great choices, teezee, and pretty much all a step up and more creative than Tempo, which I still think can be a fun casual night out. I would have a hard time getting out of Il Capriccio for $100/couple, though, but it's a great place.

you're right bear - nothing wrong with Tempo and certainly better than average pub grub, just not madly creative - ditto with Solea which would be another ok choice in Waltham - 51 Lincoln in Newton also comes to mind. you're also right: it might be hard to squeeze Il Capriccio in for under $100.00. I always think it's good to go to the websites and check out the menus - then the poster can see what attracts him and calculate his own approximate cost.
