good steak fries in oakland or berkeley?

Does anyone have suggestions for places to get good steak fries in Oakland or Berkeley? I used to go to the smokehouse for a quick fix, but they have changed their fries to crinkle fries. Boo! Something that is quick is more preferable, as I have a screaming infant permanently attached to my hip nowadays.

-thanks!

Cesar's patatas bravas are pretty much the same thing. They're on the menu at both locations.

For shoestring-cut fries, Cafe Rouge in Berkeley. For thicker fries, Nizza La Bella in Albany. Both of them use bavette steak, and both have outdoor tables for that hip-attachment. Both also tend to undercook, so if you ask for medium rare you'll get something closer to rare. And both will serve a ramekin of excellent aioli on request.

grow_power is looking for fat "steak-cut" fries, not steak-frites. Nizza's are regular size.

I haven't been to Barney's for years, but they used to have steak fries. These days I get my steak-fry fix at the Cheesesteak Shop in Alameda.

Indeed Barney's does serve steak fries. They give you a few choices of fries: steak, skinny, curly, with garlic.

Double-plus for Barney's. Very steak fries. There's often strollers and such in there.

The garlic option is new since last time I was there, but as I said, it's been a while. They also make the best deep fried veggies.

I like Luka's Taproom's offering in this regard, with good sauces for le dip...axe for them well-done, might help some if you are me

Bear's Lair on campus has some decent ones

I sometimes get them from hot deli section of ________ and heat up a pizza stone at home and then add my own stuff and crisp them up...

Try the occasional appetizer at Noodle Theory?

Luka's fries are Belgian-style, a bit bigger than the usual American cut but much smaller than steak fries.

If you want good Steak Fries as good or better than Smokehouse.

I recommend Simply Greek on Piedmont Ave in Oakland.

Each order is "Cooked to order" so you will always receive fresh and hot fries.

I only wished they had some Malt vinegar to go with them.

These are not the best fries around (Wood Tavern), but I think they are what the OP is looking for?

                PS

I have never been impressed with any of the actual Greek food at Simply Greek.

In fact their Mediterranean plate is quite bad.
