Ventured out of Brampton and into Georgetown last night and had a drive about just to see what was in the neighbourhood. Set eyes on the smokehouse, but decided to leave that for another day and decided instead to try The Stuffed Olive, whose sign proclaims "Casual Meditterranean Dining" and "woodburning oven".
Enjoyed a decent meal and was delighted to find some proper beer on tap (Okanagan Spring Pale Ale, Beau's Lug Tread Lagered Ale, Waupoo's Cider) and Weistephanener Weissbier in the bottle. Much nicer than having to endure the Same Six again (and again).
A variety of interesting pastas and pizzas on offer, lots of appetizer choices. Enjoyed it once and have decided to give it another go in the future.

I live in Erin and unfortunately its slim pickings out here however not really knowing your taste and budget here are a couple of options, although not all directly in GT. You can try the Terra Cotta Inn, in Terra Cotta. It's mid range in price and you need to dress up a abit, i.e. not jeans, ball caps etc., the Cellar in GT (downtown) is ok and is a steak type venue, the Thai restaurant just up the street (don't recall the name) from the Cellar has good food, although the service is poor (small town thing) and the pub (Shepard & Crook, I think?) is also decent and a nice casual place to have a drink. Finally, the Alton Inn in Alton, north of GT is very good but expensive and you need to dress up. Hope that helps.

re: Prinny
Thanks, Prinny. I'm guessing you meant the Millcroft Inn in Alton? I've eaten there and had quite a good meal, but found the atmosphere rather stuffy and it was expensive. I've had some pretty good meals at Bistro Riviere in Erin, which is close to where our farm is located, but was hoping there might be some glimmer of culinary excitement in Georgetown. Oh, well. (And there's always David's in Erin. It doesn't shine, but it's dependable if you order right.)

re: Tatai
It's a short drive out but try the Cataract Inn in Cataract (tiny hamlet just north of the only slightly larger Belfountain, about 5 mins east of Erin). Food and service are great. Not as expensive as Millcroft but comparable in quality. Belfountain Inn is one step below but also produces good meals.

I was under the impression that the Cataract Inn had closed its doors. Have you been there recently?
I've eaten at the Belfountain Inn a couple of times and was underwhelmed.

re: Tatai
Wow, i hadn't heard. i have been to cataract >20 times over the years (my family has a place 2 mins from there). Sad loss if it's closed. I know one of the owners and a long time chef there opened 199 Broadway in Orangeville which I really enjoy as well but I thought Cataract was still open.
Belfountain has changed ownership a number of times over the past couple of years. It was great when I first went many years ago and then had an off couple but recent visits have been good. Relatives do New Years dinner there often and have found the same thing.

re: downtownfoodie
If you could find out about the Cataract, please advise. I've been to One99 in Orangeville, and I agree that it's quite good. I've yet to try The White Truffle in Orangeville. Do you know if it's any good?

I have also been to the Bistro, its not bad but a little inconsistent however they have a praline cheesecake which is killer provided its at room temp and not too cold. I agree about the Millcroft Inn re: atmosphere but options are slim.
