City Tavern Elizabeth

I ran across the menu for this Latino place some time ago and thought it looked interesting. It's on Elizabeth Avenue, 2 blocks from the courthouse. The menu is very extensive, they feature their "famous" skirt steaks, given various preparations.

I was on jury duty today in Elizabeth, got discharged early and headed over there for lunch. I was in the mood for a Cuban sandwich, but alas, it's not on the menu. I ordered fajitas made with skirt steak, which was excellent. They also make a salsa (mild, made with tomatos, purple onion and pimento in oil) that they serve with a good crusty bread, could not stop eating it. Portions are huge. I will definitely be back for dinner, want to give the skirt steak a try.

City Tavern...get the skirt steak con cinco estrellas, the Blue Sangria, and some tableside guacamole, and you will be in heaven. They supposedly have a great burger too, but I just can't see going there and getting anything else...I like this place on a rainy Sunday, it always makes the day brighter.
