Where can I find fresh peas?

I'm talking about the kind you open up with large peas inside. Not snow peas or sugar snap. Ideally in lower Manhattan. Am craving fresh peas pureed with mint and sea salt. Mmmm.

No lower Manhattan, but bought some yesterday at Fairway. $3.99/lb.

Miglorelli at Union Square market had them yesterday, along with sugar snaps.

They had them on Friday (the 28th) as well. Shell peas, not sugar snaps.

Also the Union Square Greenmarket is definitely open for regular business on Monday, Memorial Day.

While you hunt, swing by Otto- right now there is a pasta with fresh pea and mint and ricotta. It's awesome and, as always, $9.00.

Ooh, yum! Will have to try to remember that. Do you know what type of sauce it's in? I actually bought a similar ravioli at the grocery store, but am not sure how to best prepare it. Tossed with butter?

The sauce is basically like a mint pesto, olive oil based. The pasta is a wide flat noodle. There's not a lot of the ricotta on it- just a little on top. So good. And as I've said many times on these boards, such an exceptional meal for less than $10.

With the ravioli I would probably skip the butter and use olive oil, coarse sea salt and maybe some fresh crushed mint and basil?

Try the green market in Union Square. I've bought them there before. Although it might be a little early in the season.

I didn't see them on Saturday, for what it's worth.

Bought some from a stall this saturday was on the Barnes and noble side of the market.

Edit: see link posted by Cpalms below that was the place.
