Crabs in South Baltimore

edresner May 26, 2010 04:57 AM

In the past I've bought already-steamed crabs in the County from Pappas' and Conrads but having moved to Federal Hill I'd like to find a new place a bit closer to home for steamed crabs. I'm looking to buy one or two bushels at a time.

I'm sure there are places along the water in Middle River and the surrounding areas, I just haven't discovered them yet so I'm hoping some of you can give me guidance. Thanks!

I think you can order crabs from Nicks at Cross Street Market. People will tell you to try LP Steamers, I don't think their crabs are good at all. There is also The Lighthouse on Light Street, they have a crab carry-out.
I live in Hampden and make the drive to Conrads for crabs, they have the best!

I'm one of the people who recommend LP Steamers. I've had their crabs quite a few times over the past 2 years and haven't had a bad experience yet. We've eaten in and taken them home too.

I love, love, love Salty Dog in Dundalk for carry out crabs. I've lived in Baltimore my whole life and am pretty critical when it comes to crabs. They certainly can steam up whatever you need. The seasoning is perfect and the crabs are heavy and fresh. Probably not close to where you live, but if you want great crabs you gotta drive the distance. I won't go anywhere else.
