AZ White Mtns: Show Low, Pinetop-Lakeside, Greet, Alpine, etc.

  • 4

Curious about decent restaurants in the White Mountain region of Arizona, specifically the cities/towns of Show Low, Pinetop-Lakeside, Greer and Alpine.

I will be spending increased time in the area this summer, and though my base will be Show Low, I will travel beyond often. I have eaten at many of the more known spots the area (the local Red Devil branch, Charlie Clark's, Mountain Thai, Greer Lodge, Molly Butler, etc.), and realize choices are slim to begin with. Getting tired of the usual standbys however, I'm hoping to practice a little more thorough combing.

There are a lot of BBQ spots in the Pinetop-Lakeside vicinity in particular, has anyone ever been to one they could recommend? Any advice/ tips about each?

Atmosphere and price doesn't matter. Any place interesting or above-average - relatively speaking, of course - worth checking out? Good lunch/ sandwich spots are also desired.

Again, anything you've tried and would like to pass along. Big thanks in advance!

  1. Never been to the original location of Los Dos Molinos in Springerville, but it's been on my must-try list since I first visited the one in South Phoenix 15 years ago.

Nice. I completely forgot about their Springerville location. Never spend much time in the Springerville/ Eagar area - always just passing through - so it was definitely someplace in a blind spot on my radar. Thanks!

I tried adding a link. Approximate address:

    2. Very good food and drinks. The burgers are some of the best, and the hand cut fries are a work of art. Smallest kitchen I have ever witnessed, but the fry cooks hold their ground and turn out wonderful food, fast. Usually kind of busy, and boisterous, but the owners are always there, and the waitress', bar keeps are on top of the world. Again, great green chili cheeseburgers and cold beer.

          1. wish I'd seen this before going thru there, we had a very monotonous lunch at the white mountain cafe on the way back from the Durango area.
the food was good at a brewpub in Durango, forget what the name was.
