excel May 25, 2010 05:06 PM

Well it's hot and sunny outside and I had a bug to hit a patio...so I got thinking, what's chowhound type place (ie. great food) has the best patio...let's here it guys...

For me Teronni's comes to mind....

What price range are you looking for? What kind of food or drinks? Which area of Toronto? Also, curious which Terroni location are you recommending... neither of the two I've visited have patios to my recollection.

The big new Terroni on Adelaide has a large patio.

One of my favourite patios in Toronto is Sidecar. It's in back -- large, simple, pretty (and they bring wraps for the women if it gets chilly) and the food is good *and* good value.

I wanted to go there on Saturday night - the only seatings are 6:30 (way too early) and 9:00pm (too late!). Boo. So I'll be following this thread for suggestions. If we're talking College Street - Olivia's on Clinton has a nice patio. I like Tati Bistro as well...pretty back patio.

I love Sidecar's back patio! It's pretty and romantic. And their food is wonderful, as is the service. Get the prix fixe if you can!

Olivia's has the sweetest patio, but I haven't had good food or service there the past few times I've been. I haven't been in at least a year, though — has it improved? I always loved that spot and was sad when it went downhill.

I also like the big back patio at Local on Roncesvalles (the pub, not the Italian restaurant on Queen). Pub fare, but a slight cut above.

The back patio at the Queen Mother on Queen at John is nice. And the food and service have been pretty solid there for the past fifteen years, I would say!

Terroni on Queen....they have a "patio" in the back....

Really, I don't have any food preferences or budget...just wanted to see what was out there new and old...just a nice place outside with good food

My favorite patio is at Grace on College. The food is fantastic and they have a front patio (for sun, and people watching) and a back patio (a covered, little oasis) .

Boulevard Cafe on Harbord. Great patio and the Salpicon de Pollo (chicken salad) is fabulous!

Pick up a current copy of Now Magazine. It's a guide to patios

Actually - the EYE guide is better than the NOW guide.

The Local on Roncesvalles is a short hop skip and a jump from Bloor/Dundas! We went on Saturday and I had maybe the best onion rings I have ever tasted. Not sure what made them so good. The perogies were also yummy. They came with huge hunks of real bacon! The only thing I don't love about that patio is the smoke. I thought there was some by-law about smoking on patios — is it allowed?

I keep calling it "The Local" but it's ACTUALLY "Loons"!!! Loons is about a block north of The Local. Maybe I get them mixed up because both names start with "L" and they are so close to each other?? Both pubs? Who knows. Anyway, I don't think The Local even has a patio. LOONS has the good patio with the yummy onion rings and perogies and nachos and whatnot.

The Local on Roncy does have a patio (local kitchen on queen west does not have a patio).

the food at loons can be hit or miss these days depending on who is cooking and the service has become a bit spotty. it still is the best and biggest patio on roncy.

you can smoke on patios as long as they are not covered.

My vote would go to Black Hoof. Although, I'm also a huge fan of Torito's back patio.

I had a good time at Brassaii recently. Really good drinks and I loved my club sandwich (mmm...fried egg).

I had a great time at Le Select on Wellington recently. Two great patios, reliable bistro classics, moderately good pricing, and good service.

The back patio at Torito's great (and the front one's good too, if you like to people watch).

I stayed at the Sutton Place Hotel on Wellesley at Bay St. last weekend (excellent Priceline rate of $123/nt.). It's a neighborhood I'd never stayed in before. While doing some exploring I wandered up Church St. N. of Wellesley and came upon, surprisingly, Fuzion ... which has, I think, a unique "garden" patio for dining and a smaller area for cocktails and tapas. The sofas and chairs in the outdoor lounge part of the garden are comfortable, the service was outstanding, I had one mojito (weak in strength), and one glass each of a Riesling and another Fuzion labeled Chenin-Chardonnay. To eat I had a bucket of mussels - maybe 20 for just $10. The mussels were good and I though an excellent value. I found it a good people-watching place as well ... a combination of gay/straight and otherwise confused folks, well behaved and well-dressed (with a few exceptions). I was there early-evening.
