Dandelion Greens? Where can I purchase them?

Someone told me this is a "must-do" for spring New England cooking...and I've searched lots of great recipes on this board...now, where to find the greens?

Thanks in advance :)

We've gotten them a number of times at Market Basket.

Harvest Co-op at Central Square also has them.

Thanks everyone! Definitely going the bacon route first :) Will wait for cooler weather this weekend.

I don't know what area of town you're in but Lambert's on Morrisey Blvd in Dorchester always has them. Everything there is reasonably priced.

FYI, there's a pretty big difference between the wild and cultivated dandelions. Definitely the true springtime experience comes from the wild guys, which tend to be more intense in flavor. That said, I find wild dandelion to be unpalatably bitter after the very early spring--and I like my greens pretty bitter. If you try foraging, go for the smaller plants, and ideally those that have not yet sent a flower up.

My SO is Italian and grew up in Canada. There is sort of a running joke up there, probably from long ago, that you can always find the Italian's by the side of the highway picking the weeds. Darned tasty weeds too.

Heck, in our parking lot at work I have seen old ladies picking the leaves of young wild grapes that grow there. Would love to taste their stuffed grape leaves...

Funny you should say that; italian friends just brought me a bag freshly picked from the highway along with some wild asparagus.

Just blanched and sauteed those babies up!

Gosh I haven't had wild asparagus in ages. Yum!

LOL! That brings back memories of my Korean grandma embarrassing the hell outta me and my brother when she went picking fiddlehead ferns from the roadside and kelp out the ocean. What a fool I was!

Arax in Watertown often has beautiful ones. I like em "au lardon" with some crispy bacon on top and if you really want, sauteed in a bit of the bacon grease.

I definitely have seen them at Russo's recently; but I was there today and I don't think it was available. Better to call beforehand to be sure.

Definitely at Whole Foods (saw them this weekend in Medford).
