Street & Company Seafood or Fore Street

I'm coming up to Portland for Memorial Day weekend from NYC. I just made a reservation at Five-Fifty-Five - Should I go to Street and Company or Fore Street the other night?

I've only been to Fore Street once and don't fully recall my one time at Street & Co, but I remember Fore Street as being one of the best meals I've ever had. I'd put it up there with some of the best restaurants in Boston.

Thanks so much! I think we're going to head to Fore Street Sunday. Going to Acadia for the day tomorrow - any suggestions about where to head to dinner on the way back?

I, too, vote for Fore Street. If you have time, get some bread or pastries downstairs (on Commercial Street) at Standard Baking Co. Both Street & CO. and Fore Street are owned by Dana Street, although Sam Hayward is his partner and chef at Fore Street. Primo is awesome! There are a bunch of good restaurants in Rockland. I had the most delicious cookie the other day at The Brown Bag, called a Neiman Marcus.

Between them I'd go to Fore St if you can get a decent reservation -- the room is way more fun.

Tough call.but this might help. Street is mostly sauteed fish in the pan Lobster Fra Diablo and all things fish. Fore St. is focused more on wood roasted things. Pork roast and other meats as well as mussels, which are reccomended often on this board. The room is large. St.and Co. is two small rooms , a little crowded. or should I say cramped. Both are pretty cool.
