  • 9

hey all -- toronto hound here looking for raw/vegan suggestions in chicago.
ovo-lacto vegetarian eater (and i eat meat),...but prefer eating vegetarian/raw.

i have heard the name green zebra bandied about, and i will check it out, but need some cheaper/regular-priced restaurants.

your suggestions would be much welcomed -- need to get my veg on!

It was started a while ago but has been updated recently.

      1. As far as raw food is concerned, go to Karyn's on Halstad.

        1. Cousin's IV (Incredible Vitality) is a raw food restaurant.

Karyn's is much better than Cousins. Waaay too much raw garlic for my taste at Cousins.

I didn't have that problem when I ate there.

I've not been to Karyn's, but it seems like they are simply a different type of restaurant than Cousin's IV. Karyn's seems a bit more upscale. I figured that the OP would appreciate Cousin's IV b/c it's "cheaper/regular-priced". There aren't many raw options in Chicago to begin with, anyway, so the OP might as well get all of them.

          2. A coupld of other spots to check out - Blind Faith Cafe in Evanston - http://www.blindfaithcafe.com/ and Amitabul in Chicago - http://www.amitabulvegan.com/index.html

            Blind Faith Cafe
            525 Dempster, Evanston, IL 60201

            6207 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60646

I second Karyn's on Green, we just went for the first time a couple of days ago and it was fantastic. It was definitely well priced and the drinks are delicious! We can't stop thinking about going back and soon.
