cool dinner to show parents

  • 8

Having a quasi-family reunion with my parents and two sisters (parents 60, sisters late 20s) in NYC this week. They are from Virginia and are used to eating at upscale mid-town type restaurants when they visit (Per Se, Le Bernardin, and they love Aquavit). We are eating at Del Posto on Friday but I wanted to take them somewhere a little different on Thursday. I was hoping to bring them down to the West Village, East Village, or LES for a fun, cool NYC meal. Does anyone have any suggestions? Food can be really well done standard fare or something slightly "adventurous" (along the lines of Momofoku) I am looking for the price point of places like August, Tia Pol, inoteca, and Market Table.

Any Thoughts?

            1. these are all great. thank you. one thing i neglected to mention. my Dad is extra-sensitive to noise. Are any of these places a little more quiet than others? He wants to be able to "chat with his kids." sorry I didn't that in the original post...thanks.
