Where to register for cookware in Vancouver?

My SO and I are trying to set up a wedding registry and, being food-lovers, we care more about cookware than having matched towels. We would normally buy our cookware at Ming Wo, but would like to register somewhere that has an online shopping option for our out-of-town guests.

So far we have checked out The Bay (great online system but limited selection), and Williams-Sonoma (nice cookware but not online, pricey). Cookworks might be an option (though secretly I wish they had Kitchenaid in stock).

Any suggestions of other stores with a good selection and an online system?

  1. We registered at the Bay (for the more basic stuff and to provide more economical options, plus you can always use a few towels!!) and at Cookworks (for the fancy stuff -- I was given a kitchen scale there that I LUUURRVVVEE). The Bay is great because it is nation-wide, but we were really impressed with Cookworks customer care. This was ten years ago, mind you, so things may have changed.

    1. William Sonoma is another option.

cookworks has more competitive pricing if that matters. but WS has great customer service.

      2. I seem to recall that cookware store in Ambleside in W. Van (on Bellevue) has a registry. Although they may not be in biz anymore.

        Other brainstorm ideas:

        Gourmet Warehouse
        CookShop (City Square Mall)
        Basic Stock (W. 4th)

I glanced at Gourmet Warehouse online and they didn't have anything on their website indicating online registry listing.

I hadn't thought about CookShop or Basic Stock, though... I'll check those out.

Found out that we have Bed Bath & Beyond in town and it looks like they have a pretty good selection at first glance... will be checking it out more!

Actually I just remembered Home Outfitters (part of HBC/Zellers) has a pretty impressive array of cookware, including KitchenAid, Calphalon, Cuisinart, etc.

But they (nor do Bay/Zellers) have online catalog shopping per se. But they do have a gift registry and it is nationwide:

home outfitter's do have a good selection for the home kitchen. prob similar to the Bay's.

I'd recommend Bed, Bath & Beyond. They carry nice brands such as All-Clad and Calphalon. In general, their prices are pretty decent... certainly a lot more reasonable than Williams Sonoma for most items. And they definitely have a lot of kitchenaid items.
