LIVE soft shells to take home?

Anyone know where to score some LIVE soft shell crabs around the Arlington/DC area? Or do I just need to go to the beach?

If you would like them to be super fresh and you don't mind the drive, take the suitland parkway to route 4 in the direction of Wayson's Corner and on the side of the road is a family(they have done this evry summer since I can remember) from Chesapeake Beach that sells softshells right out of the water! Not sitting in a cooler for who knows how long. I have never paid more than 3 bucks each.....but times/prices change, Good luck.

I have seen them the last few weekends at Eastern Market, and it was early afternoon, so I don't think you have to rush over there too early.

Balducci's in McLean has had them the past two visits.

          Eastern Market
If you get there early on Saturday, the fishmonger at the RFK farmers' market usually has them. May be a bit early for them yet.

            BlackSalt probably has them.

I was looking to go get some Ivory Salmon at BlackSalt Market this afternoon. Do they generally have good prices on their fresh fish?

No. Their stuff is pretty expensive, but it's the absolute highest quality stuff you can buy.

Have you checked the wharf? Other than that, asian markets or something like the place on Glebe just south of 395 (Slattery and Sons?). Just putting ideas out there.
