One AMAZING restaurant for a special occasion!
I am looking for suggestions for one incredible restaurant to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary! Price is not an issue for this one meal, but it has to be in Barcelona (so no El Bulli), and have it ALL; great food, ambience , service, etc!
Could you be more specific? The adjectives "great" and "amazing" are too subjective and vague. Could you tell us more about the kind of food you like? What kind of Barelona cuisine you are targeting? Meat? Seafood? Molecular? Classic Catalan?
Also, if you had mentioned Barcelona in your post title, you probably would have gotten more replies from the many Barcelona mavens on the Spain board.
We will eat pretty much anything, meat or seafood. We have done the 'molecular' at Jose Andres' restaurant in Los Angeles, Bazaar. While it was incredibly interesting on many levels, I wouldn't say it was one of the top 10 meals of my life.
We celebrated our 10th anniversary in Paris, our 15th in Venice and our 20th in Santorini. In all three places, I tried to find the nicest restaurant that showcases some of the the best food in the region.
It is our 25th wedding anniversary and we are going to Barcelona, so I think that we would be better off with something unique and special to the region.
In addition to the food, I'd like a romantic restaurant, maybe something with a view.
If accessible from Barcelona is the criterion (as opposed to IN) - then Sant Pau (in Sant Pol de Mar) a 1 hour train ride North along the coast. Right on the Mediterranean. They'll do their tasting menu at lunch also, and after you can walk the beach (sand is a little coarse) or take the train back to Barcelona. Michelin 3* - doesn't get any better! (less than 5 min walk from the station). Great view over their garden to the sea (slightly marred by train track).
An alternative (similar time by train) is Can Roca in Girona - but that's a little more modern, and the cuisine is more 'cutting edge'. But still fantastic - but not the top ambience. (10 minute cab from train station).
Hey CE! I have responded to your post on another forum since Chowhound censors non-food related discussions, even when they are about HOW to get to a restaurant. FYI, if I were celebrating a 25th anniversary, I would go to La Alqueria (so YES, El Bulli) in Seville (you DID say that price is not an issue; I assume that price can include cheap airfare) or Sant Pau, El Celler de Can Roca or Can Fabes.
