Best Jambalaya in NYC?

mermayd54 May 24, 2010 06:34 AM

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to put together a surprise gathering for a big New Orleans food fan. Can anyone recommend the best jambalaya, etc. in New York?

Many thanks...

If you are a New Yorker and a food fan and you went to new Orleans would you want to go for Bagels, Pizza or Pastrami? I bet he woulld be much happier with specialites from NYC then covers of his home town staples.

I hate to be cynical but don't bother. If your fan has eaten Jambalaya in New Orleans you'll both only be dissapointed by New Orleans standards by any place purporting to serve New Orleans cuisine in NYC. None I've ever tried is much good,. Go for pizza, we do that well in NYC.

I am in agreement. If the food isn't good by any measure locally, it's not worth searching high and low for the closest approximation. I can't speak from experience about Great Jones, but Mara, Delta Grill and Acme have been huge disappointments.

I was pretty happy with my jambalaya at Great Jones Cafe

Delta Grill is entireley skipable however.
