New green market to come to Cortlandt?

Across from the Cortlandt Town Center, in an abandoned gas station lot.

Sounds promising

well given the apparent average IQ that I have long noticed of posters on the lohud site......

    2. I was under the impression that the whole area around there was supposed to be town down for some other mini mall, I think that was maybe 2 -3 years ago I heard that but I guess it never went through.

are you perhaps thinking of the area over across from the BJ's center in Yorktown (actually a bit farther east where there's an empty hotel or some such thing)? I do recall hearing about a mini mall in that area some time ago

I think you mean the site of the old motel on 202 next to the Taconic. There was a proposal about 2 years ago for an upscale shopping plaza there, but it died with the economy. Now there is a proposal from CostCo for a store there. I beleive it is being reviewed by the town.

No, it was across from the Cortlandt Town Center but there is a neighborhood in back of that in which the neighbors were having none of it, so I guess it never got past the board.

      2. They must have gotten their approval because they're working on the place and there is a "coming soon" sign in the window. Last I heard they were getting approval for an outside food display but I am not sure what the final outcome was (I guess we will find out when they open).

        1. So, is anyone shopping at this place. I was there a couple of times but never bought anything (it didn't look that great and I did not see any obviously local stuff). They're advertising 99c specials and now have a sign for inexpensive cups of coffee. I was planning to go there today, but found the new Valley Market next to Shoprite and bought stuff there at great prices -- they may hasten this place's demise.

          1. So, this place has been closed for a few weeks. The one that opened next to Shoprite is still hanging on. Not what I'd call local, but it's decent.

"Decent" only if you don't mind that it smells bad, looks dirty, and the food looks tired and unexceptional.
There is NOTHING about this place that would make me go thee instead of ShopRite or Stop and Shop.

              1. re: weedy

I agree on the smell. I've been there twice and the smell is enough to discourage me from ever going there again.

The place next to Shoprite is now also closed.
