best pizza conteder -Back Alley Woodfire BBQ & Grill in Kensington is so good- gem of the market
I went to this spot, which is so centrally located and conspicuous that you'd never notice it- right on Augusta, just north of the park. Immediate contender for best pizza in TO. The decor is typical kensington sporty bar, but the menu is a great mix of sous-vide technique, chinese ingredients, and wood-fire pizza type flatbreads. The crust is not typical pizza dough and has a great crunch, though some might prefer if it was a bit more charred.
I had the blue cheese and chicken pizza with homemade XO sauce. Really good and I think it was 7 or 8 dollars. I also got this sandwich they do with toasted buns and sous-vide chinese barbecue pork belly. There was a lack of chips of any kind I think they could use something along these things. Didn't have their beef ribs but they looked great. This is perfect bar food and I can't wait to watch the world cup there. It seems like they are still getting their game together and once they figure everything out they will be the best food of their class.
