I second The Porter. It's about fifteen minutes from Midtown, and you'll get to see our oh-so-eclectic Little Five Points neighborhood. The restaurant is super-narrow and gets a little claustrophobic when you're at the bar waiting for your table on a busy Friday night, but the food and beer list makes it worth it.

I haven't been to Leon's yet, but I've heard great things. But that's in Decatur, and it's a bit of a drive from where you're coming from.

TAP is a lovely place to sit outside and enjoy the patio, and it's walking distance from the park. Food is hit or miss, but I haven't had any real problems there. The grilled cheese is deadly.
