Good, inexpensive fish on the Westside?

pnutbuddah May 22, 2010 09:15 PM

Time to start throwing fish on the grill. Where is a consistently fresh, and inexpensive Westside fish market? SM Seafood, Gelson's and Whole Fodds are not the answer, after my recent visits.

SInce we're at it, what restaurants do you think offer great fish at a reasonable price?

I wonder if you could buy fish from Mariscos Chente. It's the best fish I've had in America...

Thanks to all. Gordon's looks very interesting....particulary if the prepared fish is good. And I should have figured that there would be good fish on Sawtelle. WIll check them out.

Not really a fish market, although they have a small seafood counter, Safe and Save Market on Sawtelle has very good fish for very good prices, in my experience. They also have a very limited variety, however, so it's best to call ahead to see if they have what you want, or when they might have it coming in.
