21st birthday venue - Cuchi Cuchi vs. Eastern Standard vs. Hungry Mother vs...???

Looking for a place with great food and drinks and a fun atmosphere to celebrate my daughter's 21st. There will be between 4 - 6 of us. While I like places like Craigie St, I think her tastes might be a little less adventurous, although she is open to ethnic food. I'd like to stay within the Boston/Brookline area. Thanks!

I completely agree w/ all who send you to Cuchi Cuchi. It is sooo much fun! The festive room itself complemented by the friendly spunky waitresses all dolled up. Their playfulness is contagious and makes for a memorable evening that your daughter won't forget. And there is alot of variety in the small plates so it encourages sharing and that adds to the fun.

I have always thought that Dali's food is pretty awful. East Coast grill has exc food but it's not as comfie as Cuchi Cuchi which seems to have been created with Mardi Gras in mind! Whenever we go, there always seems to be a number of groups of women, and laughter is everywhere!

Do report back and tell us how the party went!

I agree that Cuchi Cuchi is far and away the most fun of those, great drinks, great style and the most likely that she won't feel like the youngest person there. Dali is a good suggestion, too.

Another idea, though I haven't been there myself, is Tangierino. She might appreciate the atmosphere!

Another suggestion: I also like to Beehive in the South End for birthday parties. The menu isn't outrageous and there is something for everyone. They also usually have live music which is always fun. I also really like the atmosphere, sort of a vintage-Bohemian feel to it. If you go, try the Beehive Frites with Sage and Sea salt....delicious!

I was just gonna say. If she's a seafood lover, the East Coast Grill. Ask to be put in the Lava Room, fun birthday experience!

I'd go to HM, ESK, CC in that order

This is why I love Chowhound - 2 completely different views!!! Would either of you suggest something different for your first choice?
              Thanks!

Cuchi Cuchi is the most fun atmosphere of the 3 by a long shot. It's festive and colorful.

Eastern Standard by the bar can be rather festive at times, although the dining room less so. Be careful to check the Red Sox schedule to make sure that they don't have a home game that night.

Hungry Mother is a good restaurant but probably the least 21st-birthday oriented place of the lot.

Hungry Mother is really not a good place for a 21st. I'd agree with Cuchi Cuchi, but I think a place like Dali would also be very well liked.

Same owners. Dali is a great place to have a birthday (having celebrated a few of mine own there!)!

I figured that with the parents there, it'd be a bit more subdued 21st than the one that I had :)
