Fresh English peas at retail?

MC Slim JB May 21, 2010 12:32 PM

Anyone seen fresh English peas for sale at retail around town? I see them on a lot of local restaurant menus still.

I just saw them earlier this week at the Brighton Whole Foods.

I saw frozen shelled peas at Wilson Farm yesterday, although I didn't look close. Frozen will usually be better than unfrozen, since the sugars rapidly turn into starch after picking.

Yes I got these a couple of times and enjoyed shellling them, a nice ritual.

I've also seen shelled spring peas at the Whole Food in Central Square.

Yesterday's email from Dave's Fresh Pasta said they had some:

Yep! I've been getting them from Fresh Pond Whole Foods for the past couple weeks!

Yes! I have gotten them at Whole Foods River Street in Cambridge at least a few times.

Verrill's in Concord has their own fresh peas available for sale at their farmstand. Extremely good and sweet, even after a day or two in the fridge.

The ones at Verrill are not actually their own, but both times I've bought them, I haven't felt like waiting for the person that I asked to go find out where they are from. Still good though
