Looking for recommendations in the midnapore/shawnessy/somerset/sundance area

we're finally going to see avatar tonight (hahah) and pretty much the only location playing it is Empire Studio 10 on MacLeod trail in the south. we want to get some food beforehand, and are looking for suggestions in the midnapore/shawnessy/somerset/sundance area. there is Moti Mahal, but we were wondering if there was anything else that we were missing... we are open to cuisine, and price isn't an issue, but we will probablly just be dressed in jeans and t-shirts, so aren't looking for "fine dining."

thanks!!!

thanks for the suggestions guys. I didn't get to read the suggestions made after about 2pm... i would definately have been game for some good leb food. i'll have to try alladin's next time i'm in the area.

we ended up going to Tom's House of Pie on McKevvit because i've been feeling like i'm going through pizza withdrawal for some reason hehe. we had the "Mexican," which was pretty good. they have some "special" sauce that tasted like Tapatio taco sauce and is pretty spicy... and i'm nearly immune to capsaicin, so that must mean something! of course it wasn't perfect according to my standards, though, since i'm a pizza snob. if i was making this pie, i would dock the dough because the bubbles kinda get outta control. I would also slice the lettuce (julianne-style, or on a deli meat slicer) instead of chopping it, cause it would be much easier to eat that way. i would also add a bit more sauce. But all in all, it was still pretty good.

we actually ate in the James Henry (or whatever) pub that is attached to Tom's. it was nice and comfortable. they have a pretty good group of regulars, blue-collar biker types... i happened to be wearing a black Guns N' Roses t with skulls and crap on the front, so i fit right in ahhahah!

anyhow, thanks again for the suggestions everyone! now i have a reference for future visits to the area!

In the same strip mall as Empire 10 you have Phoenix Grill and Shawnessy Vietnamese. Neither will blow your mind but they are both solid with good food and good service.

Just 10 mins North in the Avenida mall you will find Aladdins Casbah which has great Lebanese food. The Baba Ghanouj is just fantastic.

Brothers Taste of Asia and Hong Kong Garden are both very good, not great for Western style Chinese, though Brothers is typically love it or hate it.

If you want to drop a load at an average steak house, there's the Cattle Baron.

As Jo pointed out, there is no culinary greatness at any price in the area.

I live in that area. And sad to say, there is nothing really special about it when it comes to food.

Personally, I don't like Moti Mahal, but I only have been there once and decided not to return.

One thing that may be considered as special is British Chippy - a fish and chip joint. But they cook the food slow, and I heard Sea at Mckenzie towne is better.

Another one that is pretty good is a small Greek restaurant besides Zellers (forgot the name).

Other than that, nothing special here.
