Aromat seasoning - german/dutch - where to find in West end?

BamiaWruz May 21, 2010 09:09 AM

Looking for the large tin of Aromat, I know it's out there.

Tired of buying the tiny packets, it's expensive and ads up. A dutch/german ingredient, anyone know of a store in the GTA or preferably in the west end that carries it?

Thank you so much!

This is Confirmed, as mentioned earlier BRANDT MEATS in mississauga http://www.brandtmeats.com does carry Aromat seasoning you can get it in a 90g tin for $4 to a 1kg tub for $28, they also carry Aromat BBQ spice, Pork Spice and others.
The only down side is that they are open only wed to saturday. check thier website for times.

      Starsky's does not carry Aromat.

Try Dutch Dreams, the ice cream place. They sell Dutch groceries, too.

Knorr withdrew Aromat from Canadian retail a few years ago. Large tins are available for foodservice, but you need to establish a foodservice account before they'll sell you any.

I don't know about the west end, but I've seen it in what was the standard retail size at a store called Memories of Africa on Eglinton E. You might find a foodservice cash & carry, though I haven't. I ordered my most recent supply from germandeli.com in the US.

I see. I know there is a store out there because family members purchase it, but we're not on good terms to ask them where that store is.

Just thought I'd put a post out there in case someone knows. That tin that they get is huge, and I'm sure they don't need an account or anything.

Such a shame that it's become such a hassle to find it when it was so readily available before.

              Thanks all!

They don't sell it at Loblaws? I haven't used the stuff as an adult, but my (German) mother used to put it on everything!!!

Don't think so. Never seen it myself and I regularly go to loblaws and all the chain stores. It used to be in regular supermarkets but all of a sudden it's now only in german specialty or european stores, and even at those stores they may only sell the small packets.

If you know of a particular loblaws that carries it do let me know and I'll pick some up. Thanks!
