Arkansas BBQ............
I can't seem to find much information about AR BBQ restaurants. Can you help with any good information on AR. I travel the state quite often and never know where to go. Thanks.

Craig's in Devall's Bluff. Whole Hog Cafe - original location on Cantrell in Little Rock (other locations in NLR, Conway, Fayetteville and Rogers but Cantrell Road the best. Sims on Geyer Springs Road off I-30 in Little Rock has a good BBQ pork sandwich that is quite a bit different (a sweet and sour type of sauce) from the norm. Penquin Ed's B&B BBQ in Fayetteville also good but like Sims is a little different - a more sweet style taste. Battered french frys are a must at Penquin Ed's. In Hot Springs there is always McClard's but I don't think they are near as good as they used to be.

I ate at McClard's recently and liked both the pork plate and the ribs -- and a tamale went very well with the barbecue.
Try the Dixie Pig in Blytheville

Whole Hog Cafe is my favorite by far and i agree that the original Cantrell location is the best (in addition to great bbq, the potato salad rocks!)

If you hit up Hot Springs, Stubby's is an excellent place to get some BBQ.

Sim's was always my favorite.
Capital Smokehouse was chosen best bbq by one of the local publications recently, but I haven't been there.

I just ate at Capitol Smokehouse last week and I loved it. I had the pulled pork sandwich with mac and cheese and bbq beans.
Craig's is the best in the state. In Little Rock, the best ribs are at Sim's.

In Blytheville, the Dixie Pig is wonderful -- or was some years ago when I was there. There's also a place on the left going into town from the interstate

Resurrecting an old thread here, but stopped at Dixie Pig in Blytheville last night on the way home to Memphis from St. Louis and really liked it. Pork had a good smoky flavor. Strips of shredded cabbage on the sandwich - maybe a hint of vinegar, but not really a slaw. Meat comes un-sauced with sauce at the table - appears to be basically vinegar and pepper. Different from Memphis-style, but spicy and addicting. Wish I'd asked to buy some to go. Fries and onion rings were good - appeared homemade and not frozen, which is kind of rare these days. Definitely worth a detour off I55 if you're making a STL to MEM trek or vice-versa.
