Needed: Private Venue for Company Dinner in DT TO core for Accountants
Seeking a special restaurant in the downtown core of Toronto for a company dinner. Requirements: looking for a venue that is private and has superlative service and food. MUST be big on customer service. Privacy/decor are significant.
The facility should be totally private, allowing speeches, presentations, The budget should be between $130-$150 pp.
Previously Tried ORO - Although the service was good, the food quality was not at par with expectations.
Ideas??

If we had a slightly smaller group, George or Canoe would certainly be in the top picks! I've been in touch with coordinators at both, and they cannot accomodate our group.
Unfortunately we have a rather odd-sized group which is too small for entire buy-outs, and too large for most private rooms.
Can anyone let me know how the food is at Stratus versus Sassafraz? Those are our current finalists, who have the space for us/ fit the bill. Thanks!!

Since my original post, we've had a few changes. Our group size has grown significantly to 65-75 people, and we are now looking at restaurants outside the DT core as well. Downtown is ideal though.
Top contenders at this point are:
O&B- Toronto Board of Trade (prix fixe Canoe/Auberge 'Inspired' menu)
Stratus (Toronto Athletic Club)
Sopra (upper lounge of Mitsura)
George
RCYC
Hart House Gallery GrillAny direction would be fab! Going for a 'go see' to check them out in person, so if I'm wasting my time on any of these feel free to let me know!

re: amycakes22
George would be able to do this for sure and the service and food are outstanding. As well, as ciaociao1 mentioned Forte would do a buy-out for a group of this size as well and it has a very nice space and my food and service experience has always been positive.
I think Sopra is a bit casual for what you are looking for and I haven't had good luck at the RCYC in regards to the quality of the food. Until very recently a big part of my day-to-day has been event planning so I understand what you're looking for.
Good luck!

I attended a private dinner of similar size (I think 70 people?) at C5 in the ROM before. It included cocktails and hors d'oeuvres in the lounge area before the group moved into the dining room for dinner. The food was great and the added bonus was that guests got to peruse one of the exhibits on the lower floor.

I second C5 on food & decor. You'd have to check with them on privacy though, since I'm not sure your group is large enough to book the whole place exclusively.
What about Canoe? It's great for business meals: food, service, location - all spectacular. Again for only 50 people, you'd have to check with them on privacy options.

Depending on the date of your function, you may want to try Gallery Grill. The food is excellent; great looking room, and you would have it all to yourself, as they are closed for regular business at night.
Another option is the lounge at Centro. I attended a wine dinner there recently. The room is well-appointed, the service is top notch, and the food is decent as well.

I have to book the same type of dinners all the time for an investment bank with similar service/food high standards.
Successfully for me:
Stratus- 36th floor on Wellington St. near Althetic Club. Fully Private at night- GREAT view of the lake!
Reds- not sure if they have a room for 50 though
Biagio's- used back room or spectacular patio for our group (King & Jarvis)We are using Forte at Richmond & York- new restaurant with funky decor, they are allowing us a buyout during the week for 60 people, cocktail area and dinner.

I think George can accommodate that kind of group:

You may want to contact the O&B group and see which restaurant works with your requirements. Service is top-notch and I recall Biff's having a private room. Food is usually really good/safe.
I also have eaten at Red's and enjoyed it. They have a fully enclosed private room upstairs that overlooks the street as well.
Depends on your party size.
