Try Flour Power in Chalmette: 2101 Paris Rd, (504) 276-9095
And perhaps Maurice's Bakery will do it by special request. I'd also call Chez Pierre in Kenner and ask nicely for a chocolate silk pie: I really like CP's chocolate cream pie, as the filling has good choco flavor (as opposed to just being brown). 2211 Veterans Memorl Blvd in Kenner, (504) 467-3176
Also try the Cake Cafe in the Marigny, 2440 Chartres St, 943-0010. Not sure if pies are standard there, but again, by special request, a pie might be possible.Eons ago, a pastry/coffee shop was in the storefront on Magazine where Nirvana is now located; that's probably the last place in town I saw chocolate silk pie for sale in NOLA. Funny how some desserts just don't seem to catch on, while others (cupcakes, for example) ride waves of popularity into near ubiquity.

Here's a good tip. I'm kind of tight with the Maire D at Brennans but I can't find his card. I think his first name is Jorge. He's a short kind of heavy set nice guy. They will make anything you want to take out. I have picked up gumbo for years to take home. Give them a call and see if you can get one of their pies. Good luck.

Just kidding of course but this link has about 15 of the best pies in the South, none in NOLA but one in Monroe. I know your sweet husband does not want to drive to Monroe but good luck. I thought you would enjoy the pie reading.

If you can't find one, they are incredibly easy to make.
