Manchester reccommendations?

I will be there just for around 3-5 hours. What are some "must" eat places? or a place to get a non-touristy food souvenir??
Any ideas?

Thanks

Well I ended up at a place called Fosters fish and chips. Really good, choice of cod, haddock,or hake, Huge portions. A small was giant. Ate on the street since eating in costs more. A good experience.

Cor blimey. You did manage to get off the beaten track, even for North Cheshire. Did someone recommend the place?

Alderley is just the road from me and I'd never heard of Fosters (that said, driving into the Golden Triangle in anything less that a BMW would probably get me arrested as a vagrant)
