Shun Lee Palace is still pretty good too for Chinese. Not the best and on the expensive side (depending on how you define neighborhood restaurant), but pretty good for UES.

i only eat their buns, dumplings, and noodle soups - which are all good

Smart! Their "main" courses are awful.

This is pretty much a good list. The only addition I would make is Gotham Pizza. I like their Margarita slice.

Szechuan Chalet and Wa jeal are both very good as long as you stick to the Szechuan dishes. I am afraid there is not much that is above average beyond szechuan

due to love here on CH i keep trying SC, but as of yet it has never lived up to the quality of WJ

i also have no love for patsy's, finding even the east harlem original to be hit or miss, at best

I think Wa Jeal is better, but the Chalet is pretty good too. You just need to navigate the menu carefully there.
