North Park Produce has it (at least in the North Park location).

99 Ranch always has it. I think it's on the lower shelves.
      Lucky Seafood also has it.

I can't speak to tamarind paste, but Lucky Seafood has *much* better customer service. That said, I frequent them both. Ranch 99 has better selection, but Lucky Seafood does a better job of helping me find what they have.

yea, when I asked for help two different people just pointed in the general direction.

anyhow, I found after further exploration at 99 Ranch. My mistake was looking for something in a jar

99 Ranch Market, Thuan Phat, World Foods, Lucky Seafood, and most other SEA style markets have the dried Tamarind Paste/Pulp. They also have Tamarind Concentrate, some of which are pretty good. You need to read the label on those, but I've started using certain brands.

They do have at Ranch 99 - definitely hidden and not always in English, if you ask for help they can point you in the right direction.

I just saw all kinds of tamarind products at vine ripe market in la mesa yesterday when I was there. I would think you'd have more luck in a middle eastern or indian grocery?

maybe one of the indian groceries on black mountain rd/mira mesa?
