Omlette Parlor Closing after 27 years - not a recession victim

The Omlette Parlor is closing May 31, not due to the recession but being leveled to make way for a bigger grocery store. The Costa Mesa restaurant owner hopes to find a new location, but was only given a 30 day notice by the landowner, so it may take some time to find the "just right" spot to reopen this homey old fashioned eatery with its "parlor" decor.

A sad day for the locals and all of us who love the "home grown" variety of cafes.

Are you talking about the one on main street in santa monica?

There isn't a grocery store near the Main St. location....Sounds like this place:

The OP stated "Costa Mesa restaurant".

Yes, I read that, but it's possible the owner is from CM, not the restaurant. Just looking for some clarification.

The restaurant is on 17th street and Orange Ave in Costa Mesa in the Von's shopping center.

I agree, the wording was confusing.

"I agree, the wording was confusing."

No more confusing than the old Groucho Marx joke "One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got into my pajamas I'll never know." Why would the OP want to tell any of us where the restaurant owner lived? In case we wanted to stop by his house for a chat perhaps? ;-D>

PS - And the clincher was "...hopes to find a new location..." for the closing restaurant.

Sorry to all who were confused. I attempted to post a clarifying note several days ago but it didn't "take" - so here we go again!

I meant to add the geographical location abbreviation of OC (to the original post) which most of us identify as Orange County, but forgot. I had NO idea there was another Omlette Parlor and don't recall anyone ever posting about either of them. So to those of you who are near Santa Monica, enjoy your location, which is staying open! We here in OC near Costa Mesa will have to hope the other owner (clarification: of the restaurant business, not of the building) will find a new spot soon to reopen. And for further clarification, I have no idea where the owner lives and don't plan on dropping in on her. ;-)
                        Happy breakfasting to you all!

No worries. SO & I love to tease each other, and we all know it's in good fun.

Thanks for the info, all the same.

it looks like it bears some semblance to the one on main street in santa monica, is it a chain, the logo seems to be the same.

It is indeed the same logo ... furthermore, I Googled "santa monica omelette parlor" and it came up with the SM address but a link to the above website which doesn't mention the Santa Monica location.

So, I have no idea if the SM location is closing as well.

Here's the Costa Mesa Omelette Parlor's website. There is a reference on the homepage that appears to address the OP's topic:
