Hi...are you talking grilling or low and slow smoking? I have bought an online book which really brought up my game in low and slow..if interested I can tell you the name. They also have a website where I pay monthly for new tips. This is mostly aimed at competition BBQ but for backyard it took me from average to very good. Teaches you how to cook brisket, ribs, chicken and pork butt.

If there is a Sur La Table near you, find out if they have classes. I have there latest catalog and they do have some grilling classes. Unfortunately, not all locations offer cooking classes. Another thing you might try is videos on YouTube, in case you can't find any classes locally. There are several good BBQ websites, too.
I learned (and am still learning) by books and trial and error. Jamie Purviance and Steven Raichlen would be authors to check out. BTW, what kind of BBQ did you get?
